DIRECTV and
Panasonic are working together to present for the first time the 2010 US
OPEN live in 3D. Tennis fans will now enjoy watching the worlds best players
compete. Starting Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4th and 6th from 11am to 6pm EDT,
DIRECTV customers can go to channel n3D (TM) and see the men's and women's
third and fourth rounds which will be aired by CBS Sports' center court
coverage. DIRECTV customers must have a 3D television and 3D glasses to view
DIRECTV's 3D programming. DIRECTV HD customers can watch n3D (TM) for free
at no extra charge.
"Watching the US Open in 3D gives DIRECTV tennis
fans a court-side view of the tournament's most highly anticipated matches,"
stated Derek Chang, executive vice president of Content Strategy and
Development for DIRECTV. "Our 3D broadcast will bring every serve, volley
and passing shot to life in viewers' living rooms, giving them a completely
different perspective on the game. Coming off of our successful 3D broadcast
of the 2010 MLB All-Star Game earlier this summer, we are excited to offer
the first 3D tennis event exclusively on DIRECTV and look forward to
providing our customers with even more compelling 3D content that they can't
get anywhere else."
Customers can also view DIRECTV 2010 US OPEN
Experience, which is a free interactive service that has more than 550 hours
of live tennis. The events broadcast partners CBS, ESPN 2 and Tennis Channel
only have 250 hours of live tennis coverage. Up to 140 extra matches can be
viewed all in HD, exclusively on DIRECTV's channels 701-708. Tennis fans can
watch the six-in-one screen Mix Channel. Commentary from former touring pros
and tennis experts are featured on all the live court channels.
The semifinal and final rounds can be seen on DIRECTV at:
Sept. 10th from
12:30pm - 6:00pm EDT
Sept. 11th from 12:00pm - 6:00pm and 8:00pm EDT
Sept. 12th from 4:00pm - 7:00 pm EDT
* DIRECTV will re-air matches
following each broadcast.
